Need to find the good sales rep, where you get her from, is that in Central store?

I also asked the Smartone sales lady in Central, she told me that Hero will arrive around the 1st week of Sept and we can join the $0 price plan. ^^

I would have to disagree with KennL. I own and HTC HD and before buying compared this to the BB Storm and the iPhone. The Iphone is a great consumer product but when it comes to business applications it just doesn't cut the mustard. You cannot even create a folder to store files/documents on the iPhone? All it is a glorified SMS, photoalbum and game machine.

I was anxiously awaiting the release of the Storm but was very disappointed in the touch keyboard, the clunky interface and the awkward keyboard layout BB has decided to use.

The HTC HD is a very good machine. It's integration with ms exchange is tight ...it looks like outlook on my phone! I can create folders on the phone....or chose to sync certain folders from my laptop/pc etc.

It also has a larger screen then both the iPHone and BB.

But the one big advantage that I see is the fact that for the HTC HD I can set the keypad to a phone layout which means when typing emails/text messages it is much much faster. I do not know how people can use the BB keypads!!! It wld make me crazy.

The HTC O/S is completely upgradable! Not sure why you would think it is not?

I disagree totally. I never use my stylus for my HTD HD.....the screen is large enough that I do not need to use it. I could not imagine having to use that little spin ball on a BB...which reminds me of hmm...was it the original video game controller 'Pong' to navigate through a message/screen. Their designs are way behind what is considered normal on most smart phones now.

Also, the fact that I can store key documents/files on my HD in a specific folder I have created and send that as an attachment when required it's very handy. I imagine the BB has the ability to create folders and store file documents in them?

If you are using exchange then there is absolutely no tighter integration then with the MS Mobile O/S.

No doubt BB got the jump on the market and introduced a product which was revolutionary and they units themselves are quality products. Many companies, as a result standardized to these units.

In so far as typing is concerned, I doubt very much that you - anyone - can type 75 words per minute on your BB. I have tested my HTC HD keyboard input against other friends running bb and there is absolutely no comparison...my input is at least 2 to 3x faster.

To be honest though...I am not a fan of MS and the first chance I can get to move to another O/S I will do so....but from what I have heard the Android O/S is not upto speed yet...and I would feel that the BB O/S to be a step backward.

But I guess as a simple email machine....the BB would suffice most bankers-ceo's (who are typically not tech savvy) needs. For them I guess it's like a fancy SMS machine. In fact most people I know don't understand predictive text...so I can see how that feature would confuse these users.

I never implied the HTC would overtake the BB - of course it won't!! RIM is a massive company now with deep pockets. It's just like saying Apple will take over MS...not until they start running window apps native on the Mac OS...maybe then.

All I am saying is that the HTC HD is a far better machine then the blackberry

"not until they start running window apps native on the Mac OS...maybe then."

You can do that pretty much transparently with VMWare Fusion. ;) But yes, I take your point...

I think iphone OS, Android phones and Blackberry are all seperate things and are favored by different users.

For Blackberry, of course it is perfect "business partners", but for me, I like Android phones as I can download different apps for free.

Iphone, Hero and BB definitely have different purposes. I know a lot of people who have both BB and Iphone.

I am looking into the Hero as it does seem to add a few extras compared to the Iphone. The GS just doesn t add enough to the previous models I find. The only concern with the Hero is that it does have a slow processor and some reviews seem to experience quite a lot of lag.

As for the casing, the Hero has made a big step forward and is no longer a cheap looking plastic phone.

Kenny L, have you handled the HTC Hero? If yes, can you tell us where we can find it.

To me, I think the most attractive item is Hero can view Flash 8.0.

Kenny, the thread is about the Hero. If you have never seen or touched it, how can you say it is "creaky and cheap". Everyone else seems to say that the Hero's casing has really been improved and feels very solid. (with teflon coating so no oily finger prints)

Comparing a bicycle to a Mercedes is the same as comparing a HTC Hero or Iphone to a BB. Their purpose is just not the same.

Don't think pink Hero is available for official resellers. Maybe you can take a look in Mong kok handset shops.

I'm going to Hong Kong in a few days to pick up the HTC Hero. However, I am clueless on where to get one. I heard of names like Broadway and PCCW. Are those reputable stores? By the way, I want an unlocked HTC Hero.

Thanks

If you want to join the contract plan, you can go to PCCW and Smartone. If you want handset only, you can visit Broadway, Fortress etc......they are all reputable official resellers. As I know, all Hero sold in operators and reseller are unlock.

Hope this can help.

Almost all of the phones are unlocked in Hong Kong market, Hero looks pretty good, another good Android phone out there, you will see more and more Android phone coming out later this year.

I have also got mind yesterday. The outlook is much more better than I thought and the touch screen is more sensitive than the prevoius magic. Furthermore, I think is more personalized as you can set your own scene.

The guys over at T3 are real Hero fan-boys, but at the end of the day most tech mags etc admit that iPhone is still the one to catch. I had a play with Hero yesterday. It had nice robust rubber feel, seemed not so fast though. it is fatter than iPhone.

android phones are getting there and will take big step this year. of course apple are not stupid and will keep moving the game one step ahead (as they have with iPods etc).

BTW, I did some cost comparisons in the other hero thread. I think the apple brand premium is fairly priced v hero.
