I have a fungal infection in my toenail and foot. It never seems to go away, however i tried. Got over the counter medications, liquids and creams, went to GP and got creams.

What else could i do to get rid of it permanently?

a) Don't do SELF MEDICATION.B) Don't go to GP.c)Consult a very good DERMATOLOGIST.

You need to take oral medication called Lamisil (I think it is called). It is very expensive and needs to be taken for about 9 or 10 months.

I had the fungal infection in my big toe nail . The medication cured it and have had no problems since.

Thank you all for your advice.

Finally, i did see GP again and referred to dermo (for insurance) and both advised me to try the Lamisil. Both warned that there is a very small chance of having liver damage. But, to get tested after 1 month trial. So expected to have this medicine for 3 months.

had a fungus infection on both big toes before and was using the topical creams to no avail. out of frustration, i just decided to cut my nail as far deep as i can go...and removed the dead skin cells that was under the nail; making sure to scrape clean the area with a wet tissue and after with a dry tissue. did this a couple of times over a period of 2 months.. had to live with the odd looking toes for a while but, the nails grew back and all was fine since.
