Linux vs Windows

Would appreciate an advice/thoughts on the differences between these and which is considered better etc for home word processing use and internet access mainly.

You could write several books on the subject.


Windows is more consumer "ready" and more supported by ISPs and such.


Linux is not consumer mainstream. There is no player promoting and developing Linux strongly enough for the consumer market to make it mainstream.


The technical merits of Linux hardly enter into the equation for a single consumer level user.

Looks like I will have to choose a Windows OS as I will need to download and read, and edit/write, a fair amount of Word and excel documents. Such a shame as the Linux ones are much cheaper and look very good!

I think both Linux and Windows are fine. I would rather consider the spec and brand.
