3 yrs ago I only shaved the bikini area and I decided to try brazilian wax and it was amazing because it was almost painless. I never went again after that one time and I only shaved the hair by myself almost every other day. I don't know if my hair got thicker due to the shaving and when I went to a new spa for a brazilian wax today it hurts like crazy. I swear I'll never go to that place again.....any ideas if it's because my hair got thicker or that technician didnt do a good job??

Hellokitty00, it should not hurt that much....a good wax and a good waxer can do it without much pain......I never tried earlier but after reading the forum I wen to Hung Hom - A new parlour. It was almost painless. you may call the girl at 6425 1190 for your next visit. Shaving is not the good way to remove unwanted hairs.....

Depending on the technique and the length of the hair, it can be very painful!
If you haven't waxed for a while, then I'd recommend cutting the hair so that it is no shorter than about 1cm - this helps prevent hairs getting caught up in the wax that don't belong to that patch of hair.
I personally don't like the waxers I have been to here in HK - I tried a couple of the 'best' ones recommend here on this site, but compared to Oz, the hygiene is very poor and there is no privacy... basically strip off everything and bare all! In Oz you have the option of wearing your underwear or a gown or a towel, and you are covered up.
I ended up buying my own wax pot and wax (got all the supplied from Oz, HK had hardly anything available, and was hugely expensive) and just do it myself.
The key to pain management is to keep up the waxing regularly and find a beautician that does a good job. You will find recommendations on this site, but ultimately you have to try them out yourself!
