Dear sazzy
When thinning out thick hair, especially if wavy, it is important to only thin out the mid-sections throughout the back and sides. All around the hair line and top surface sections should never be thinned. This will prevent the style looking frizzy and wispy.
A razor should also be avoided, as this will only thin the shaft of hair, instead of addressing the bulk.
