Holding a Garage Sale/Jumble Sale

ORIGINAL POST

Has anyone had any experience with holding a jumble sale in HK? I used to love doing them and in other countries people love them, but I get the feeling 2nd hand things are not popular here.

Also, are the function rooms in the midlevels (maybe like a church hall) which I could hire cheaply for half a day to hold one with my friends?

Anyway if anyone has advice or experience in holding one, it would be appreciated.

Au contraire... there is an enormous market for second hand goods here (no garage though...) http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/classifieds/

Ah sorry you are right Ed.

To clarify I meant that I have not found that garage sales don't seem to be common here, nor are there a bunch of garage sale junkies. Also flea markets don't exist here the way they do elsewhere in the world - i.e. secondhand and oddball stuff. I saw some so-called markets on the Peak and Pokfulam but they are for really expensive things!

I usually donate my stuff to the school fairs, which will be starting the next month or two- then go to the very same fairs and buy other people's junk. Agh! Kennedy School's is usually the first Friday evening in December, and Bradbury's will be the next day, Saturday afternoon.
