When I use IE I can download video direct from a Webpage using Realplayer.
Can Firefox be configured to do the same?

I haven't tried it but there is a FF plug-in. It's on this page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7

Also, if something really really requires IE, you can use the IEtab plugin to open an IE tab in FF. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419 . You can set it to always open some pages in an IE tab, or switch manually.
