My husband has just been retrenched and our only option is to return to our home country. The company paid for our flights here and for our personal belongings to be shipped. Do they have to do the same (relocate you back) when they retrench you?

This is happening more and more; .....the contract your husband has with his employer will be the key BUT NOT THE ONLY document/consideration that is important here. You should immediately seek legal advice on your many rights under the contract and at law generally. Many employers have several levels of settlement of such claims that depend on their past practices in addition to the terms of the contract and, importantly, how the entire matter of 'retrenchment' is approached. We are very familiar with this area and would be pleased to assist. Contact Elaine Kan.
