I live in the NT and bumped into a baby Chinese Cobra around my house yesterday. Does anyone know of a snake catcher in Hong Kong? I know the police will do this (kill snake) or arrange for it to be caught by one of the restaurant people (eaten) but I was hoping that there was a group that will catch the snakes for zoo's/educational purposes. This little bloke got whacked over the head by the security people.


I am also looking for an English Hong Kong snake book/guide so that I can educate myself and my kids. Does anyone know the name of such a book and where I can get it? I have tried all sorts of bookstores already.

If you speak to one of the team at 'Explore' in Sai Kung I'm sure they'll put you in touch with the snake-catcher guy that I seem to recall they have featured in earlier issue(s) of the magazine (their tel number is 2243 1083). I think he has also written a guide to snakes found in HK which you can probably buy from the Explore office. Anyway, they'll definitely be able to help - always a mine of information...
