Is there anyone in HK that has managed to connect their mac OSX 10.5.X wirelessly to a router that is plugged into PCCW's grey NEC modem? I have spent 4 days trying, posted questions on 4 advise forum, spent 6 hours on the phone to Mac, PCCW and Netgear and still nothing....
Surely someone in HK has managed to accomplish this?
Please help.

Sure give me a call. I will give a crack at it.
PCCW help is useless. I run my Airport Extreme and a no name router off there gray cable modem.

I think there are many of us that have managed this with no problems, in fact I have no issues with Mac or (deep frustrated breath) Windows at home with the wireless. As long as the Access Point is set up to log into PCCW then your Mac should connect with the Access Point with no issues. Whatever router PCCW have installed should not be an issue, the Mac connects to the Wireless Access Point anyway which will be distributing IP addresses.

Hello - The mac and windows laptop connect fine wired to the Netgear router. I have simply put in the PCCW PPPoE UN and Password. The problem is when I want to become wireless. The Vista Laptop is fine. I finds the router and can work with the WPA enabled. The Mac is the problem. PCCW say they only support older Mac versions. The Mac find the router no problem. It even connects to the router. The problem is that it cannot connect to the internet. It must be something to do with the fact that when you set up the wireless on the Mac, it doesnt ask you for the PPPOE UN & PW. The only option is DCHP......Anyone?

OK, go into the management of your Wireless Access Point. Go to the connections and get your access point to connect via PPPoE tp PCCW. You will be able to enter your username and password on your access point which will then essentially have a 24/7 connection to PCCW then.
Then all you will need to do is connect your Mac and Windows machines to the wireless access point and have internet access. You do not need to enter username and password as you will automatically be connected to the internet..
As a note - if you are connecting to PCCW via your PC by entering username and password you can only use one machine at a time. By doing it via access point you can use many.
**This post typed on Mac in my living room, over wireless and PCCW on latest Leopard (to be shortly upgraded to Snow Leopard)!!
