our contractor ran away without finishing his job although we have paid all sum of money as stated in our contract. we have a contract and everything was great until the 5th week (last week). suddenly he called and asked for 30% more of the original quotation and he is now 60 days LATE. our contract also says that he will be penalized 2000/ day for being late on delivery date. now he is gone with all our money and the work is only 75% done.
we have a contract and we paid everything already. what should i do? if i sue him it's going to cost me more money and take a long time. any suggestion? thanks in advance.

hi bbr, thanks. we paid him in full because we trusted him and also because he said he didnt have money anymore to continue with the project. also he was introduced by our good friend.
can consumer council help us on this?

hi cookie, ok thanks. i will try everything to get my money back.
also because of him - he left some rubbish on the staircase area - someone from the building reported him to the fire department to remove the rubbish and now the whole building got a letter to reinstall our fire lobby. so every unit has to move their current doors back to its original location and build a smoke lobby.
this guy is trouble!

i would say thats a good thing! fire regs are there for a reason. you'd be happy everyone had to move their doors back to the proper position if your building every caught on fire!
