Manila Flood

Hi everyone, I hope you can help providing some current info on the Manila situation. I booked my trip 2 months ago for El Nido starting from tomorrow to Sunday. I am now debating whether I should proceed with the trip given the current situation. If I cancel the trip, I would not get any refund. I would like to know if anyone here knows the current flood situation in Manila, whether the flood has subsided? And is it safe to travel? I would need to do a transfer in Manila so it would involve a 45 minutes bus ride from the internatinoal airport to the domestic airport. All the pictures I saw in the internet, I suspect it is 2 or 3 days old.

Appreciate your help!

I think you should be ok. The ride from the international airport to the domestic airport (assuming you mean the intl airport in Manila and not Clark) should only take 15-20 minutes only and it's a very short trip. Flood waters have subsided in most parts except for the heavily affected, low lying areas.

The flooded areas are mostly in the eastern side of the Metro, and the area of the airport is in normal condition. I flew out of MLA to HKG last Sunday, and as far as I know, airport operations are back to normal. As bjeb mentioned, if your intl flight is to MLA and not Clark, it should be alright. You might wanna check the weather advisory as well. El Nido is absolutely beautiful. But I got stranded there last year due to a typhoon. It's like being trapped in paradise, but it might not be a good thought if you have schedules to chase. For weather in the Philippines, check http://www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph/.
