As Smartone priority plus customer you will enjoy the first hand offer, plus you will receive a Cova cake and wine on your birthday. Good for you.....

Living in Shanghai, everyone can become a VIP customer if they pay a few dollars more with almost any service provider.

All customers are priority customers.

The point is as you pay for your mobile fee monthly, its happy that you can get something back once on your birthday, Haha. And I think not all carriers in HK have this kind of offer.

Maybe some carriers in HK offer better services everyday, or are a bit cheaper every month.

If your company is paying for your mobile service, and calls, then the cake is indeed a bonus.

Actually every carriers have these type of high rank customers loyalty service, but just depend how much they care about you...some will send you a card, some will give you a cake, and some just do nothing. SMV does a very good job to keep these customers and treat them a respect.

In the end they don't really care about us. It is all about market share and money. Brand loyalty is about you being loyal to them.

Me personally, I don't want cake. I want low price, because I am paying for whatever it is on offer.

The only loyalty scheme that I ever used was the Tesco point in the UK. The reason for this is that I used the card when ever I filled up the car with petrol. The company paid for this, so price was no issue. And the points I would earn get me shopping vouchers. The vouchers were enough to buy me a new shirt, and something else everymonth. Now that was a bonus for me, at no cost to myself.

But different people have different 'buttons' that when pressed make us feel good. Marketeers know this. Some people have a free cake button. Nothing wrong with that. We all have different buttons. But we should be aware that these people are only interested in pressing our buttons. They are not really interested in us.

That's true. What vendors do is just whating customers to stay and spend in them. However, I still appreciate this birthday cake as I like desserts, Haha~

I'm totally agree with you all, I guess the people pro on SMV is not really about the cake, is the matter the carrier can do little bit extra to customer, of course at the end, we all know the money of the cake is from our pocket.

Cake and card they can keep. That's not "doing something extra". If you feel respected because of that you need to get out more.

When I flew a lot with a US carrier I got upgraded to First Class almost all the time flying domestic. Now that's a nice way of treating customers. All marketing and the frequent flyer program makes money for the airline? Of course. But I didn't mind one bit.

However, what I appreciate Smartone is their call center staff. I remembered once I called them and ask on something, the staff told me that he will call me back later. At first I thought it was only a method to stop customer from "making troubles", however I did receive their call back later.
