So drivers can no longer exit IFC/Airport Express carpark with a nifty right hand u turn onto the tunnel ramp onto the main route towards Lantau and the airport...is there an alternative route that doesn't take 10 kilometers backtracking through traffic or Wanchai or is there another better carpark for a quick exit outta Central please ? thanks...

That thing gets me.. I was caught by police the other way, when you come up from the 4 seasons and want to turn right into the tunnel.
I told the police that I was aware that it was illegal, but it was ridiculous as I could clearly see the oncoming traffic and there was no danger at all to do this..
He didnt listen and just find me. I also reminded him that stopping me in the middle of the highway was potentially more dangerous (he wouldn t let me drive onto kennedy town to pull over there!!!)
What gets me even more, is that you police cars and bikes make that turn all day. Seems rules are different for police officers (without siren or flashing lights so obviously not in a hurry)

i think you can do a u turn at the next set of lights, i.e. go back past ifc mall. crazy as that creates more traffic past there, but you can get into the tunnel from there.

This is correct.. As you said it is stupid as it means cars turning right have to wait for another light, and that small area is quickly jammed. It would be easier to let everyone turn right as there is no danger..

thanks guys,....so you mean- keep going past IFC on left and turn right -u turn -so am turning back and driving past the taxi drop off outside airport express? and thence into tunnel ? will try it again ...scary...

Yes, that s the way to do it.. You do the u turn just infront of the harbor.

I got caught there too a couple of months ago along with the driver in front of me.....and have noticed that a 'NO U TURN' sign has gone up since. It seems crazy that you can go to the next junction and come back past the drop off point to AE - all you are doing is increasing the volume of traffic in what is already a very busy area! However there is no logic at times to HK road rules so I will obey to avoid another hefty fine.
I digress a bit here but where are the motorbike cops at the junction of Queens Road and Pedder Street moving on the taxis who cause major back ups whilst they wait to join the taxi rank?? Its so frustrating when you get caught behind them at the lights when green.

Yes agree have been caught too many times in silly meaningless infractions meanwhile dual plated vehicles cut me off and scream past me at amazing speeds on expressways to the airport... sigh ..so I go online here to get the deal on other routes etc...thanks all for your help...
