We always replace the lock whenever we move to a new place, you never know if the landlord has extra copies himself, or even the previous tenant. New locks are not that expensive (there are expensive ones too), ours go for around 500-800 (for a set of 3), then you can have duplicates. We give the old lock to the landlord and just leave the new one we purchased if we move again.
