Unreasonable Boss

ORIGINAL POST

Held an informal mtg at work to gauge peoples opnions on something that had happened. This 'thing' that happened came from the top and was unexpected and untimely and people had raised their concerns about it.

A certain circle pf people are giving a completely different view of the discussion and others are backing me up (i have copies of emails sent to and fro).

Am now being threatened with the sack as 'boss' says i have breached my contract in doing this, is this right?

unless he has cause for summary dismissal he cannot sack you, none of us here know the exact details or cause as you have been very vague in your post.

inform us the point and you will be able to receive better/to the point advice

Hard to say without the facts, but is this a breach of a confidentiality clause? I presume you have written contract. Has the boss told you you breached it verbally or by e-mail? Keep his emails, as you have the others. If you have minutes of teh meeting, keep a copy. If you are terminated and not in breach as far as you can see, you may have a case for unlawful dismissal that can be taken up with the labour tribunal. Don't try to take any action or say anything against the opponenets - as this might prejudice your case. Don't be upset that people take sides; everyone has his/her own agenda these days because of the insecurity that surrounds everyone's job.
