Moving Large Heavy Furniture

Hello,


I will be moving in a townhouse which has a fairly narrow internal staircase to the 2nd floor. It's doubtful whether there is enough room for the movers to haul some of the furniture pieces up to the 2nd floor.


Has anyone hired a crane to bring furniture via an upper floor window?

You don't need a crane. A friend of mine once had stuff brought in through a 3rd floor window. The movers turned up with a winch system and ropes. They basically pulled it up by hand once they had attached the winch to the roof/window.

The guy said they did it all the time, up to 5 floors.
