Change of Building Owner

Building in which I rent an apartment has just been sold. This happened as I was trying to renew my tenancy agreement. Neither the landlord or the management company told me of the proposed sale or that I would not be able to renew my lease. First I heard of a problem was a letter from new owner's solicitor sent to me on 19th October that I was expected to move out and hand back vacant apartment on 24th October when my lease expires. My contact is the usual after 1 year, 2 months notice. Can the new owner insist I try to find somewhere for me and three young kids to live with only 10 days notice? I have tried talking to the new owner's solicitor but not getting anywhere. Where do I stand legally?

i am of the understanding that even an expiring contract needs to be terminated with one month notice, else it automatically rolls over by one month.

so a letter on 19 oct should be a termination notice for end nov.
