Greek Orthodox customs

Can anyone tell me if it is customary to send flowers (perhaps a wreath?) to a Greek Orthodox funeral? We know the family quite well but not sure what the custom is. Any information on this issue would be appreciated e.g. is it customary to send them on the day of funeral, should we send to the house or funeral parlor etc etc.

There is a Greek Orthodox church in Hong Kong, just google to find it. I would ask them.

I do know that Greek Orthodox believers have very strict and strong customs, so I would personally do nothing - other than express my condolences in person - unless I had very good advice from somebody who really knows what is right and what is wrong for Greek Orthodox people.

Greek orthodox are far from being strict as woods99 suggested. You can send the flowers to either place.

MarathonHK,

Okay, I bow to your greater wisdom. Are you Greek Orthodox, by any chance?

oh sorry Woods.. I misread. I thought you were saying they didn't have strict or strong customs. I really wasnt being rude, just read too quickly. Apologies..

I am greek orthodox (but far from being a strong believer) and the only thing that is usually strict is the funeral procession itself. Other from that, the orthodox religion is fairly relaxed. I would send flowers as I would for any other religion. Dont think anyone could take this badly.
