Hi! Is there a reason you feel you need to start solids so early? Is milk not enough for him or is she looks at you every time you put food in your mouth with great interest? Its ok to feed solids this early if your doctor has approved it for your baby. It is recommended to wait till 6 months if the baby can due to the still immature digestive system and the tongue thrust? reflex which automatically pushes the food out.

But if you really feel she is ready then I would start with rice cereal- its very easy on the stomach and you can mix it with breast milk or formula for the right consistency. Check this website out for ideas and good information on solid food introduction in general- http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/

Things have changed so much in recent years. When my eldest were babies, 3 months was the normal age to start solids, (my eldest son started at 6 weeks). The only reasons I've ever read to delay solids is immature digestive systems, and to lessen allergies, but certainly there were a lot less allergies seen in kids 20 or 30 years ago.

I also think some babies are ready for for solids earlier than others. Your baby will start giving you signs that they are ready. If you're unsure speak to a pediatrician for advise.

Whether your baby is breast or formula feed the latest recommendations are to wait until the baby is closer to 6 months before starting solids. The

reason is the infants gut and digestion system are more mature and able to better process food . When babies are started on solids later there is no

need to be so fussy about the order the food is introduced and whole foods such as bananas, sweet potato ,pumpkin, have more nutritional value than rice cereal .

You would be very welcome to bring your baby to Well baby clinic to discuss

this in more detail.

With best regards
