Hi,
Recently after upgrading to 3.0 version, my Iphone has gone la-la. Even though Itunes shows my Iphone having hundreds of tunes, my Iphone shows up with the error "No Content" when I disconnect it from my Ibook. Anyone has a solution on how to get my tunes back on my Iphone?
Also, when I connect it to free Wi-Fi, the internet page doesn't show up "because it is not connected to the internet"..?!!! I have full signal of Wi-Fi but Safari, Itunes, Youtube fail to open up. I am with HK China Mobile phone network. Am I supposed to fiddle around with the settings here?

You must have unlocked the phone before you bought it to HK. After the upgrade to 3.0 you'll need to unlock it yet again!

yes, "hou maa faan"! i am back to using my ipod. iphone sucks! grrrr

The iPhone doesn't suck, but the agreement between Apple and AT&T in the US sucks which is why your phone was locked in the first place. If you had bought a HK version it is unlocked so no hassle with updates with whatever carrier you are using, even abroad.
And no you don't have to unlock your phone every time you do an upgrade if it's an HK model. I would have thought a Smartone-Vodafone person would have known that.

However the price of iPhone is much cheaper in US than Hong Kong.....

i can install "jailbreak"?
wish i knew earlier NOT to upgrade the damn thingy!

take your IPhone to the apple store in kowloon on nathan rd near the kowloon park entrance.

But will they "help" those iPhone not bought in HK?

No they will not. And they will certainly not help unlocking or jailbreaking it!
They may help you if you have an issue and take it in with the AT&T card in, etc as an official US purchased model.

How do I buy music from iTunes when based in HKG? I don't have a credit card in any other country and they won't allow me to buy music on a HKG credit card.

You have to be logged in to the HK iTunes store. There is a version of the store for each country and you must have a login for each country you want to use. Click on the flag at the bottom of the iTunes store to change country.

First of all don't blame Apple. Country coding of content is controlled by content providers, not Apple.
Secondly, there's plenty of Western pop and rock on the HK store. In fact I'm looking at the front page right now and I can't find a single Cantopop song or non-Western TV Show/Movie. Yes I know it is giving me options based on my interface language and collection, but still. Saying you are "stuck buying Cantopop" is simply not true.

Can anyone give me the instructions on how to jail break my new iphone? It is imperative that I get this thing unlocked asap! Thank you!!!

Dear ptrcksey,
It is known that there is a website that will automatically unlock the iphone called jailbreak.me as recalled. Depending on the iOS version, it can be loaded through the Safari browser.
