Hi mums, any advice on which book I should read so I know what to expect from a 3-4yr old child? Like what kids around this age can or cannot do yet. I just sick and tire of relatives and friends telling me things like ...."hey he should be doing this or can do this by now....blu blub blu..." I just want a general idea of what "in general" can they do at this age.

My favorite all around is The Portable Pediatrician by Laura Nathanson. Covers birth to age 5.

Remember, the only people who are really up on what milestones a kid of any age should be hitting are pediatricians and parents of kids just that age.

But, in general a 3-4 yo can

do most self-care things [with some help] including eat, dress, brush teeth and toilet

[although nighttime dryness in some children comes very late & is biologically

determined]

talk so that most people can understand them [but kids growing up bilingual are

often slow to start talking

imagine and think wishfully

run, jump dance and twirl

sing songs

remember their favorite stories

just a quick for example
