Broken LCD TV screen! Help!

ORIGINAL POST

I have a 3yrs old, practically brand new Samsung 32" LCD TV- (brand new as it was never used), out of warranty obviously and last week, unfortunately got knocked out and the screen got totally damaged. Samsung dealer said i might as well buy a new one instead of try to get it repaired as it would cost too much money. What can i do with it? Shall i just give it away for HKD150 to some local 2nd hand shop... Ridiculous price. Any suggestions?

Sorry for not mentioning it earlier, the insurance did get us another brand new TV :) but i still have the broken one and i thought it could be of a value...as it's only the screen that's broken? my question is - does anyone know how to fix a broken TV monitor (the liquid splattered inside the screen and it creates abstract image when you turn it on) .. the 2nd hand stall by the bridge in central offered HKD 150 for it which i found totally ridiculous, if i can fix it then i might be able to use it / sell it with better price/ etc, etc

It's still brand new even if it's already three years old? I find that amusing.

The second hand guy who offered 150$ for it will probably take parts from it to repair other units. I would say save yourself the trouble and take the 150 deal.

Agreed with punter. Take the 150.

Yes, Punter it IS brand new- I didn't exagerate at all, this smaller LCD TV was in our bedroom and we always watched TV in the living room with the bigger one.. my husband used it a couple of times playing Xbox and that was it..

Thank you for your advise, I appreciate. I guess I'll do some cleaning up sooner than I thought!

:)

Have a great day guys.

3 years is not "brand new". The fact that it was only used it a few times makes no difference. If nothing else it is several generations behind technology-wise.

No matter how "new" the outlook of the 'electric appliance' is, once you bought it, you can only sell it out at around 50% less 2nd hand. So, the 3 years TV, its lucky that you can get $150 in return. I have once sold my old desk top $80 at Sham Shui Po.....
