Hello everyone. Now that becoming a NET is becoming more of a possibility I would like to know is the savings is comparatively better than teaching gigs in places like Korea and Japan. I was making 3,000 USD a month in Japan on the JET programme and was able to save more than half. But is it true that as a NET your rent is payed for? If this is the case then there is a huge savings there. But can a current NET give me a breakdown of the mandatory monthly expenses and how much I will be able to keep, not counting such expenses as going out/drinking/movies, just the necessities. As a NET I think I would be making the lowest pay which is 3,000 USD, isn't it? So my savings would be based on this salary.
Thanks everyone

Sweet. I am wondering if there are any NETs that wish to comment. Verification with the pay scale and a breawdown of monthly expenses. I would also be interested in knowing about life for a foreigner living in HK for a long time, say over 5 years. I wonder if most NETs or foreigners in similar positions stay in HK a long time or leave after a short time. If there is another resource on the net I can turn to for answers to my questions, plase point me in the right direction.
