Looking ofr a local barber shop - not hotel barber. I tried The Barber Shop in Central yesterday but its just a mens salon with overpriced haircuts - females cutting hair. Even the smelled like a salon.
Horrible.
I want old school. Men cutting mens hair. A real barber who knows how to shave a mans face.
5 years ago I went to a place in Yuen Long but they no longer exist. The old guy was good and knew how to do a proper shave.
I tried a place in Mong Kok last month. It was old, had real barbers chairs but they did not offer shaves. Old guy cutting hair knew his stuff and did a great job with traditional mens haircut.

I go to a barber shop in the basement of the Bank of America Tower, Admiralty. They have ladies section on one side and traditional gents on the other. Complete with Penthouse and Play Boy..never been asked if I want something for the weekend, though. A regular cut (no wash) is $140 and I generally give an extra $20. I'm very pleased with the cuts - no nonsense, old school short back and sides. They have rasers for the back of the neck. Don't recall seeing anybody getting a shave. The Mandarin Oriental is well known for that service.

There used to be one in Happy Valley, just across the road from the southern end of the racecourse.

I went to CSW Cutlery in Wan Chai yesterday. Saw straight razor but no saftey razors. CSW Cutlery is a great store by the way.
I am looking for safety razor. Saw some online but no shipping to HK. Where in HK can one buy a safety razor and blades?
