China City Trip Travel Suggestion

Any suggestions for a city trip to China, outside the large cities (Beijing, Shanghai)? Have been to Guillin / Yangshuo and will go to Xian soon ... so any other suggestion with direct flights only!

Qingdao, Xiamen, Kunming.


Qingdao best in summer, as the winter is cold. Nice beaches, good beer and seafood. Some very quiet beaches outside the city. There is also one of those 'holy' mountains not far from the city, on the coast.


Xiamen best in spring and autumn as the summer is a bit hot. An Island city, with great beaches on the east of the island. Good cafe culture and a few beach bars. Great sea food and numerous boat trips. There is a little island just of Xiamen where there are many old houses but no cars.


Kunming climate good all year, and from there you can take overnight trips to places like Dali and Lijiang. You could also take a look at eChinacities.com. They have a city guide section with good information for travelers and for living.
