Do HK televisions work in Australia?

I am relocating and wondering whether I can take my Samsung TV and video player back with me ...

Very probably yes. Australia runs PAL system and 220/240 volts, just like HK.


With newer TVs the signal and voltage issue is typically moot. Most plasmas and LCDs can handle "worldwide" voltage (ie anything from 100 to 240 volts). Check the label by the power inlet on the TV. They can also handle any signal (PAL, PAL/SECAM and NTSC as well as the various HDTV formats).


As for the VCR, that should also work.


You will need plug adapters or new power cable (if the TV has a detachable one).
