Where to get married in Sai Kung.

Hello.

The missus and I would like to get married in Sai Kung and then jump on a Junk back to Central.

We've run a couple of searches but cant find any venues in SK for the wedding ceremony. Can any one recommend a couple of venues that would be nice around October 2010 (and we will consider any recommendations at this stage) or a HK based web directory that we could search ourselves.

We'll looking to book a Junk to pick us and 30 guess up from Hebe Haven YC so we would need to be in that vicinity too.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

MIKE

I believe that you can get married out on the golf island of Kau Sai Chau. They have thier own pier so the junk could take you all and reload you all there.

The island is a wonderful idea, but you cant guarantee exclusivity.

Recently attended a wonderful wedding that was held aboard the decked out Star Ferry in the harbour. It was lovely.

I would say one word of caution - if you and your friends are not used to the sea, the passage from Sai Kung to HK Island has a couple of rough spots! I know from experince as we had a junk bringing ourselves and our guests from our wedding in Central to our reception in Sai Kung (thousands of years ago!!)

Agreed with chatterbox on the seasickness. Even quite mild chop will make many people seasick. NOT fun at a wedding.

I'm sure I read in a recent Sai Kung magazine that Hebe One-0-One restaurant is a wedding venue

Hi All,

Thanks for the tips. I was worried about the Junk trip from SK to Central, even in October we could be in for a rough trip. :)

I'll definitely look into the Star Ferry, we checked out the Aqua Luna as one option also - anyone know anything about that?

Also we have confirmed the date as October 5 and now I've heard whispers that this is in the middle of Golden Week so the hotels are booking up. Is that correct?

Thanks

MIKE

A friend of mine got married at one-thirtyone in Sai Kung/Ma On Shan. It was beautiful! Very small french restaurant overlooking the sea, and private too.

Take a look at the details here: http://www.myhkwedding.com/2010/01/15/real-weddings-elaine-and-andrew/
