I remember visiting HK a few years before relocating here as part of a holiday and visiting some market in Kowloon with streets filled with shoe/sneaker vendors.

Anyone know what market that is? I cant recall (I am getting old or its been a too long - or both!).

That would be Fa Yuen Street in Mongkok. Take the MTR to Mongkok and exit from E2...walk straight ahead 3 blocks till you see all the major shoe branded stores.

This is not to be confused with the same Fa Yuen Street near Prince Edward MTR, which is full of clothing vendors...
