Permanent Residency thro Property Management

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but here goes:

I lived in HK for 3 years, bought a property to rent out then spent the last 2 years living elsewhere in SE Asia.

I still own the property which is worth about 8m. Is it possible to apply for Perm Res if you own property of certain value even if you have NOT lived in HK for the required 7 years? Any advice would be much appreciated.

No. It doesn't matter whether you have property or not; you must live in HKG for 7 continuous years in order to be eligible for permanent residency. Sorry.

Which includes holding a residency permit (HKID) for seven years, I assume?

Yes, if you live here for 7 years with a valid visa, either employment or dependant, you are eligible. Some people wrongly assume that if they purchase property, they can automatically be permanent residents, but that is not the case at all.
