Does anyone have any experience using Baumatic gas hobs and know about the after sales service from this company. I am renovating my kitchen after CNY and am deciding between Baumatic and Smeg.

(Italian) Baumatic seems to have a lot more of its products featuring in magazines these days - I'd never heard of it when I bought my Baumatic cooker in the UK back in 1997 but it came recommended by several kitchen firms, one of the reasons being it could heat up to the highest temperature allowable for a domestic gas oven in the UK at that time. The five-ring hob worked perfectly, and it all looked good, but of course it didn't have the Smeg cachet so I took it to be a sort of poor man's alternative as it was half the price of a Smeg. I don't know about servicing in HK, but here's the response I gave on this forum about Baumatics 992 days ago:
I bought a huge Baumatic stainless steel range- style cooker in the UK ten years ago. It was such a good price (heaps cheaper than similar ones by other brands) that I was suspicious at first and wondered what the catch was. But I had no problems with it at all and as far as I know it's still going strong - when I sold my UK house last year the developers practically gutted the house but have kept the cooker in place.
SmartLife magazine regularly gives their products the thumbs-up.

I have a Baumatic dishwasher and a Baumatic induction cooker hob, both only a few years old. The dishwasher has broken down several times and each time it costs HK$650 for a technician from Baumatic Asia just to come out and look at it. It's currently been out of action for eight weeks because the Program Setter, which it needs apparently, isn't available in Hong Kong.
The Baumatic ceramic induction hob apparently has been discontinued and there are therefore no spare parts for it. Baumatic Asia has offered to replace it with a 30% discount off the stated HK$6,600 price tag of a newer and similar model, which doesn't include delivery and fitting. Apart from feeling ripped off, it doesn't say much for this company's attitude towards sustainability if it simply fails to provide spare parts as soon as a model is superseded by another, just for it to go into the landfill.
Perhaps I have been unlucky but even so will commence the search for a more reliable dishwasher and ceramic 4 ring induction cooker hob. Recommendations would be appreciated on which to look for.
