Trying to move into new flat yesterday. Sofa too big to navigate stairwell. Can anyone recommend a professional to alter or modify sofa to smaller size without destroying it? Any recommendations appreciated. Thank you!

not knowing your location/layout, can you have it hoisted thru the window?

not really hoisted because there is a balcony roof type structure over our largest window which is not strong enough to support a person(s) moving the sofa in. Would prefer to have a professional cut in 2 so we can get it in and not have to contend with this issue on future moves. I know there are professionals out there, but don't know where to look.

Secondly, having mocked your situation, let me try to provide a suggestion... how about those furniture shops in Ap Lei Chau where they make sofas?

Or how about Tequila Kola (2520 1611), or Artura Ficus (3105 3903.
Sure, they make furniture, but maybe they can help you out. But this would involve delivering your sofa to their warehouse so they can fix it up. Seems very costly.
There's also lots of shops on Queens Road East Wanchai that sell furniture...
