Or you can just accept the coming into your bed thing. It might actually be less work in the long run. We've noticed that they gradually grow out of it, even our almost 3-year old.

Yes, they should grow out of it right.... I can't imagine a teenager wanting to come and stay in your bed!!!! hahahah

Easy ...
Put a big triangular sign up next to your bed saying "NO TODDLERS".
Always works.

Totally normal at this age... kids at this age suddenly feel the need of security and start getting scared of the dark..... so if they wake up in the mid of the night, they get scared, wants security and smell of mommy and daddy... so crawls into your bed.
Been through this stage with both my kids....
solution:
1) Put a mattress at the base of your bed, tell them if they come in the middle of the night, you can sleep down there, and NOT in our bed because then parents can't sleep. My kids compromised with that, and actually loved it.
2) Other solution, I put my child in my bed to fall asleep, agreement with him. After he falls asleep, I move him back to his own bed. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, if he walks over to my bed, then next day, he loses the privlege of falling asleep in our bed and I spend time with him sleeping next to him until he falls asleep. (This took a few nights to understand ...)
3) Keep bringing him back to his bed EACH and EVERY time he crawls in. Don't give in. He will learn. (This was tiring.... took one week but still sometimes falls back ).
4) My friend put a child's gate at their door, so the kid is calling you, but can't crawl in your bed. It's the WORSE when it's 4 am !
This phase DOES go away.... eventually.
Good luck !
