I'm looking for tips for a 2 day trip to Hanoi. Streets, restaurants, galleries, arts & architecture, good cofee.

Re Restaurants - dont miss Club 51 (51 Ly Thai To Street; (84-4) 936-3069). The decor is fantastic and the food even better - the chef's marked off his favourites on the menu so just follow along... Wasn't overly impressed with Bobby Chin's place.

Ah, see I really liked Bobby Chins restaurant. We went to another one which was recommended in the Lux guide as being great for Vietnamese food and that was a real disappointment. It was in a really cool old 2 or 3 story house. Give it a miss. I'd just spend your time wandered the streets and shopping for amazing lacquerwear. There is a great cafe which is recommended in the Lux guide and that was really nice. Good food (amazing spring rolls) and some nice shops around there. I wouldn't bother going to Halong Bay. We were disappointed (really bad visibility - nothing like the postcards (much like HK most of the time ...??!)) and it takes all day to get there and back.
