Flights Hong Kong to London via Shanghai with China Eastern

Has anybody tried to fly with China Eastern from HK to London? Their flights are incredibly cheap though with a stop over in Shanghai. Are they old planes with no movies in English or are we talking about good flights?

I just did a search on Google and there are various Tripadvisor-type sites you could take a look at. Delays could be an issue and safety appeared to be a concern of some posters, but you could check out the statistics as safety worries may be unfounded. (I'm sure someone in the aviation industry could update you on their record.) My husband used them a couple of times some years ago, albeit for shorter flights, and thought they were rubbish but things could have improved since then. However, I suspect it's a case of you get what you pay for and I don't think you should expect anywhere near the quality of a Cathay flight in terms of comfort, service, food and drinks and in-flight entertainment. Also, do they fly into Heathrow or Gatwick, and is their flight schedule convenient for you? All these factors should help you decide if it is worth flying with them .
