Swim in a wetsuit?

Maybe it is because I grew up in Scandinavia but I find the water plenty warm enough in winter to swim only a suit, at least for shorter periods. A thinner wetsuit is enough here. It will resist the strokes somewhat but not as much as a thick one. You get used to it fairly quickly.

It will keep you warm and won't resrict you too much if you buy a quality one - Orca is the leading brand - and make sure it's sleeveless. Called short johns (short leg) or long johns (long leg) in surfing parlance. If you are tall and skinny I have a near-new model I could sell you very cheaply - I used it twice and am now too fat for it!
