Hi,

Has anyone applied for a Canadian visa and had it denied? Not to go as a DH, but just as a tourist

are you a PRC citizen? Reason I ask is that I (Canadian) helped my PRC cousin thru marriage to apply to accompany us (my local wife and I) on our summer vacation, where she would have been in our company for the entire trip, and she was also refused.

At the time she was unemployed (recent grad) with no travel history. The explanation we were given was that they (Cdn Imm. officials) were not convinced that she would return to China at the end of her visit, even tho she has no relatives in Canada, and would be under our supervision the entire time. The lack of travel hsitory was also a deciding factor. I thought that an endorsement letter from me might carry some wieght, but they suggested an invitation letter from my family in Canada was much more convincing.

Bottom line is, develop your travel history, have a steady job to come back to, get an invitation letter from someone IN CANADA, and cross your fingers...

I should imagine they would be the same about visa's for other nationalities who they think may just try to 'Disappear', if allowed in even on a visitor visa.

Cara, can I ask your husband's nationality (if you think it's relevant) - the only people I've heard of here being refused to the USA are single women - one friend was told point blank "We know you're looking for a husband" !

For people, especially single women, they need a letter from their respective employers proving that they have work here in HK in order to get the permit.

hong kong passport holders don't need a pre-approved visa to enter Canada...certainly PRC passport holder do...

funbobby, thanks for pointing out.....guess we were talking about cara's husband's case for going to the usa. Yes, for Canada, holding the SAR passport do not need pre-approved visa which is so great of Canada and also lots of other countries which makes travelling nowadays so much easier.
