Went last week and the people I normally use there told me they are open every day as normal over the chinese new year I expect some will be closed normally the Taylors and Curtain shops are closed as the factories close down a week or two over the CNY

Most shopkeepers and tailors take off the ten days but there will be a hard core there of people with families locally who will be opening their shops on Tuesday.

Suggest getting to the border before 9.00am. Restaurants in the Lowu Commercial Centre will be open and some massage/manicure places open early.

I was in LoWu Commercial Centre on Thursday and everyone I spoke to said they would be open all during CNY -- tailoring curtain shop on the ground floor, QQ bag shop and Keven's pearl shop on the 2nd floor (Kevin will be gone for a few weeks as he visits his native home in Shanghai, but his father will be watching over the shop until he returns), another bag shop on the 4th floor, etc. I didn't talk to anyone who said they would be closed. I know this is a bit of a departure from the way it used to be in the past -- not closing during CNY, that is -- but it is a sign of change. Even in Hong Kong there are many more stores that will be open during CNY than there used to be. I was in a computer shop in Windsor House on Friday and for the first time ever, they will remain open during CNY.
