I remember soem of you mention there is some kind of seed that will help the milk flow, please let me know so i can tell her to get it. she has little difficulty in given birth so C-section was performed. she is a little sore and can't drive in snow.. he hubby has no idea what to buy so i am helping him to get the inform from here to let him read and buy whatever needed. any tips giving will be much appreciated. I have told her whatever i know and my milk come in nicely so it will be good to hear from you.

Nurses in the US often seem to be on a mission to push formula. Try to find a lactation consultant. You can contact La Leche Legue for one.
Milk will come in the vast majority of cases. Pumping may help the flow.
One thing to look for is a cleft palate. Sometimes this isn't discovered until a few days after birth. It impairs baby's ability to suck. You can still give breast milk, but you have to pump and then use a special bottle.

Yes, cara, it is Fenugreek seed. that was what the nurses told her that within 5 days milk will come in nice but she is really struggling - 1/2 hour one side and still crying so nurse told her she is turtoring herself and baby, give formula!
axptguy38: She has no cleft palate according to her med report. Doctor said the baby is fine except a little yellow. My sister in-law said is a pity to pump,, only 1oz. I think she really has to figure out and ask around what to do... will call her later to check how is she.
Thanks for replay.

Why would it be a pity to pump? It stimulates milk production! You can always give that milk to the baby in a bottle.
Some people talk about "nipple confusion" but all doctors and nurses we have spoken too roll their eyes when that is mentioned.

I had some problems with b/f too. The mid-wives at the hospital discouraged pumping. I tried fenugreek seed and mother's milk - and they were moderately useful. At the end, the situation improved significantly when I started being more relaxed about it and just drunk lots and lots of water.
