For classic look, my experience is that you have to have a good hair style. Suggest you to goto a decent salon for consultation. Shop around. My friend tried DESSANGE Paris and there is a French hairdresser who is excellent for classic look. They have reference pictures, french style, elegant and quite nice. The salon works with some make-up brands and so the look will be modern. Look for Anthony at 90155808.
