Best iphone contract?

I'm considering on getting an iphone and am wondering the best way to go about getting one. I would prefer not to have a contract and buy one out right, but not sure if this is a good thing to do. But if there is a good cheap way to have a contract which is quite short term, then I would be grateful for any advice.

What's the best contract around at the moment?

I already had PCCW. I bought the iPhone online at the Apple store and got an unlimited data plan from PCCW (240/mth). Works for me.


I don't know if you can get a short term contract. In Sweden and other places there is pay-as-you-go with data. Don't know about HK.

I also bought the handset via Apple store on-line (only reliable supply and delivered in 2 days, unless getting 3 contract) and then got the $238 SmarTone unlimited 18mth deal that can be cancelled for only $500 (pretty good). This was the most flexible and cost effective plan I could find.


The pricing of contracts with or without handset all work out about the same over a 24mth period, so no point locking in for full 24mth contract


Frankly, 500mg is enough for most people even with YouTubing etc. I have work-email on mine and have never got passed 1gb per month. Unlimited simply give peace of mind. used quite a bit in first month of playing etc but rate settle down to quite modest levels. Face book and email etc use quite little data.
