I'm returning to Hong Kong but my work Visa has expired in the time I have been gone.


Can I still use my HK ID card at the thumb scanners when I come back through?

No you can't. As IH answered above you will need a visa (or visa stamp) on your passport to enter HK. You will not be able to enter through the e-Channel.

you will be pulled aside and quized if you use your id card.

if you were to do on the way out, you would cop a fine.

best to use passport.

If you attempt to use your card through the e-channels, the doors won't open, you'll be stuck inside until an Immigration Officer comes to open them and your card will then be confiscated.
