Hey!
i am looking to book a trip to kota kinabalu in Oct and am checking out airfares..
air asia offers amazing rates from macau when compared with the bigger airlines from hk..
i usually fly with cathay and have no experience with air asia so dont know what to expect!
is it well established (ie not going to collapse in near future!)
any good? reliable? safe???!!!

Check the Cathay Pacific site - they have some excellent hot offers within the region

Yeh Air Asia is fine. They are like the European budget airlines. You just don't get the service that Cathay offers.

No free food/snack/drink for Air Asia, and each luggage shall be within 15kg, otherwise get penalty

No frills but good service. On time every time I flew with them and I have used them on 3 occasions.

Just came back from CNY holidays in Malaysia. Air asia were fine to travel with. It is a short flight so you don't need to eat, sleep or waste money on the extras. Like lots of budget airlines everything costs extra but the fares are really cheap. Air Asia were the cheapest option out but check out the flight costs out of Macau and Shenzhen as they were $1800 cheaper than from HK. You will enjoy Malaysia. If you can get over to Langkawi it is worth the trouble. Beautiful !
