Argh! Does anyone know how to contact them in Hong Kong? The contact number on the website doesn't work, and you can only email them if you log in and I can't do that either!

Any ideas??

2747-5500 but be prepared to wait ages. I usually dial, put it on speaker phone, and carry on working until they answser.

They are awful, sometimes you can't even hang on as it is perpetually engaged. I know this sounds excessive but when it's urgent I usually call an Asiamiles number in another nearby country and pay the IDD charges! My call gets answered immediately.

The customer service hotline works 24 hours/day. I always call them late at night. Yes, a bit wait (10-15 minutes), but one does get through eventually.

Call them before 7AM - should you get up that early - and you'll almost always get straight through

I just had an infuriating 32 minute wait with them to try to fix THEIR oversight. I hung up in the end and shot off a very angry email. We will wait and see if that achieved anything other than me blowing off steam. The most irritating thing is that they play one song over and over again on a loop with this insipid singer claiming "I just want to live ..." . After 32 minutes of that I just wanted to throw myself off the building ...

Just two days ago I was on hold for........... 1 hour 38 minutes !!!! Held on because I really needed to redeem miles. When someone finally picked up he answered immediatley with "I am sorry you have been waiting for so long". Took the wind out of my sails so no blasting from me.

One fabuloius thing with Cathay is that I have always been able to get a seat by redeeming my miles. Something that has certainly not happened with the other Frequent Flyer programme I am a member of.

Wow, I'm surprised JinHK can always get a seat with Cathay. Although I know the route I take, HK/Vancouver, is a extremely popular one, it is almost impossible to get anything without booking 1 year ahead. As a matter of fact, I can never even use my miles to secure a business upgrade. Failed everytime I tried so far and on different routes. Only when I check-in will they let me upgrade if available.....and for extra miles of course. Cathay needs to release more seats for redemption.

By the way, join Marco Polo Club and there is a different number you can call which I find is "usually" faster.

Be careful if you need to change the ticket's name. My daughter-in-law had to pay $300 plus when she was asked to cancell her Christian name on the ticket as it was not stated in her passport.
