LA Budget?

Hello to all. Am planning to travel to LA with my wife & 1-year+3 months-old kid this April. Plan to stay for a couple of weeks & I was wondering how much money should we bring? Will be staying with relatives which means we wouldn't be spending too much on lodging. Also wish to make a side trip to San Francisco as per an aunt's suggestion, and another relative is willing to drive us there. Not sure if it's gonna be a quick SF day tour though, or would we need to lodge in for the night? Suggestions would be welcome.


Please also consider that the budget may be a bit tight & the main purpose of our travel is so I could visit an aunt who's had a chronic illness & who'd like to see our baby. Of course we'd do the tourist thing; but advice on keeping spending to a minimum would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :-)

It depends on your travel style and whether your wife is a big shopper or not! Clothes and accessories are relatively cheap in the US with lots of range. If you're from Europe, you shouldn't have to worry at all!

Food is cheap there too! And fresh!
