Just submitted the papers last week for our permanent HKID and received a letter back today saying all the paperwork was in order

For my husband we submitted all his tax bills and receipts for the last 7 years (I didn't have all of them and went to revenue tower and asked them and they just printed out the whole lot there and then (I did get my husband to write a letter saying I could deal with his tax affairs with a copy of his HK ID as he didn't have time to go himself). We also gave then a letter from my husbands company saying he has been employed by them for the last 7 years as an extra piece of paper but we did need that. You can also give bank statements anything basically to prove you have lived here for the past 7 years.

I realised I had nothing in my own name, I don;t work here so had no bills, pay slips etc just in my name so I photocopied all the visa labels in my old passports that were issued from when we arrived and that was it for me.

For my daughter we had a letter/certificate saying when she started and finished school here she took a year out and worked here so we gave her work contract and then proof she is now in uni in the UK.

Then you need photocopy if all your ID's , passport and a copy of your recent visa label.

Thats all we submitted - much easier than I thought it was going to be.

We need to have a visa to go to China but as mentioned before you will be entitled to a 3 year one.

Good Luck

Sorry didn't know they may not give you a three year one just know a few people here who have their permanent ID and have 3 year visas - so will depend what the rules are at the time you apply for a 3 year visa.
