3 stars on ID card

Hi,

Just picked up my baby's ID card and SAR passport. I have 3 stars on my ID card so I asked the guy how come my baby didn't have three stars. He said they get the stars when they're 18.

Is this true?

You would think I would believe what an immigration officer tells me but no... actually I've had Hong Kong people tell me whatever they like, whether it's true or not... so just want to check.

Thanks!

Yes it's correct. They do not get 3 stars until the age of 18, my daughter and son are the same.

For all you'd ever want to know go to the obvious place http://www.gov.hk/en/residents/immigration/idcard/hkic/smartid.htm

Great thanks! Oh... did you try to get the China travel document for your kids for visa-free entry to China, from CTS.

If so, can you remember the procedure?

Thank you!

We did but my wife dealt with all that. Only took a few days if I remember correctly - picked up the forms, filled them in with pics and copies of passport I think and all got sorted.

Sounds quite straight forward - I'll have to get my Hongkongnese mum to do it for me as I can't read Chinese!
