Visiting Bangkok

ORIGINAL POST

I will be visiting Bangkok from Hong Kong with my shopaholic 10 year old girl for a weekend in March. Does anyone have any tips on where to go so she can stock up on all her clothes, jewelery, trinkets and fun things with her pocket money? Childfriendly meals, fun haggling and cheap prices appreciated greatly!!!!

Thanks a million!

Hi! you can try MBK or the CENTRAL in bangkok also. Be careful of taxi driver who dun turn on the meter. Generally, they are very very nice people. Enjoy your shopping. :)

Try Chatuchuk Weekend Market (spelling may be wrong) but you can get there on the MRT. its 35 acres of stalls selling incense and linens, etc. Good fun but go in the morning.

Agree - Chatuchak (which is the same as JJ weekend market in trawler's post) is good (you can get there on either BTS or MRT), as is MBK (at National Stadium BTS station). Lumpini Night Bazaar (opposite Lumpinin Park - Lumpini MRT Station) is also fun, and is on I believe every evening, whereas JJ is basically only weekends.

Child Friendly places: note most 4 and 5 star hotels have great Sunday brunches, (all at good value prices compared to HK!) many are very child friendly with a separate play/activity area with clowns, balloon and games for kids so all lots of fun.
