i want o buy a genuine installation of windows vista. msn has announced that tech support for outdated installations of visa will end next month. meaning that pc's with vista sp1 will no longer get support from msn. so i need to buy and install a genuine copy of vista on my pc. can you help me acquire a genuine copy vista to install on my pc?

If you're going to buy anyway why don't you simply buy Windows 7?

"boot camp" on my mac only allows installations of XP or VISTA

Makes sense. Not to be annoying but have you double-checked here? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3986


You might also want to look at Parallels or VMware Fusion. Much nicer solutions than boot camp, although they do require more from the machine.


I don't know if Vista is even sold anymore actually.

i have a copy of vista (genuine) it is no longer being used as i have installed win7. not sure if the license would be valid for another user in the situation? if anyone knows...

Regardless of legality, it can be used for another computer as long as you assure Microsoft that it is uninstalled from the previous one.


In practical terms, if you activate a license now and it was previously licensed more than 9-12 months ago, there won't be any issues.
