My laptop powerpack/mains adaptor is bust.

My laptop says Lithium battery.

And 20v 3.25 Amp.

The only mains adaptors I can find where I am is 20v 4.5 Amp.

Can I use this 4.5 Amp mains adaptor or will it damage the battery or laptop?

I am assuming the old power supply says 3.25 amps and not some other component.

As it is the correct voltage, you should be fine. You'll simply have more juice available than the device uses.

Do check that the polarity is the same. There's normally a little diagram on the power supply brick. If the polarity gets inverted you might get a poof.

Polarity is the same.

I can use with a peaceful mind now.
